Rakuten has received reports that timeshare owners have been approached by companies calling themselves Rakuten Travel Mexico.

BE ADVISED THAT NEITHER RAKUTEN NOR ANY OF ITS AFFILIATED COMPANIES ARE INVOLVED IN THE TIMESHARE BUSINESS. ALL OFFERS TO PURCHASE TIMESHARES BY ANY COMPANY USING THE RAKUTEN NAME ARE FRAUDULENT.

These emails have come from a number of domains that are not owned by Rakuten and are not Rakuten businesses. These include RAKUTEN.MX, TRAVELRAKUTEN.COM, TRAVELRAKUTENMEXICO.COM and TRAVELRAKUTEN.COM.MX, and may include others of which we are not yet aware.

If you have communicated with someone purporting to purchase a timeshare on behalf of a Rakuten business, we recommend immediately ceasing communication with them and taking appropriate steps to protect the integrity of your financial accounts and identity.

We recommend reporting any fraudulent activity to the Federal Trade Commission or the Consumer Protection authority in your home state.
